The idea for a south Fort Worth Mercy Clinic emerged when the needs of the 76110 community encountered the tenacity and experience of Dr. Rebekah Naylor. Dr. Naylor, a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, spent over 35 years serving with the Bangalore Baptist Hospital in Bangalore, India as surgeon, chief of medical staff, administrator and medical superintendent, and associate medical superintendent.

Dr. Naylor returned to North Texas in 2009 only to be confronted by the needs of the underserved at home. Partnering with Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Naylor drew upon her experience as founder and director of multiple medical programs internationally to guide a group of dedicated volunteers in establishing Mercy Clinic Fort Worth in 2011.

In addition to serving as the chairman of the board, Dr. Naylor teaches a missions course at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and formerly, taught at UT Southwestern Medical School. In addition to her responsibilities at Mercy Clinic and Southwestern Seminary, Dr. Naylor serves as a Healthcare Consultant (USA) for Baptist Global Response and is on the Global Health Committee at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

In 2017, Dr. Naylor was named the American College of Surgeons /Pfizer Lifetime Humanitarian awardee.

Dr. Naylor has also been honored as Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's Distinguished Professor or Missions and one of Fort Worth Business Press’s 2018 Healthcare Heroes.
